Housing Market Stimulus - Good for the Economy

It is great to hear that the government are going to relax the planning laws to stimulate the housing market. London in particular has a chronic housing shortage which has resulted in high rents. By stimulating the construction industry it will help stimulate the economy and hopefully also get people on to the property ladder. It is positive news for the removals industry which will mean that more people will be moving house.

We carried out a piano removal in St. Johns Wood last week. Luckily with this upright piano it had wheels which made life a lot easier in moving it as these pianos can be quite heavy indeed and generally you would require three men to move it.

Removals in London - An Economic View

People are always moving in London. This is quite evident by the sheer number of removal companies in London. The rental market in London is good for property owners at the moment because of the chronic shortage of affordable housing. Not enough housing is being constructed to meet London’s current needs hence the reason a lot of people are renting. Because rents are so high people can't save enough to afford their own home and as a result have to rent. I have noticed on my removals that a lot of people are sharing flats, houses and apartments. I have done a lot of removals where I have literally moved people from room to room. Most people are very frustrated with the rental costs and quality of living conditions especially In London. Let's hope the British government can recognise that more housing needs to be built or else it will create a bubble effect in the housing market which has led to us in some ways being in this recession. At the moment banks are not lending and developments are being delayed which has led to a housing shortage hence the buoyant rental market. Fair enough banks need to be prudent in their lending but also some lending has to happen in order to stimulate the housing market which will allow people to perhaps buy a home or flat for themselves. By keeping the levels of building new homes consistent it goes some way in preventing the boom/bust effect. Obviously this affects the removal industry because of people are not moving there are less removals. The economy can turn the corner with careful planning and learning from past mistakes particularly relating to how the last recession came about.
